Does anyone know of any good hotel deals for the end of September 2023 in NYC?
    5 star only

Or any recommendations for agents to contact?
Room rates are very high when going directly to Marriott / Hilton websites.

What are your 5 star essential requirements for a hotel in NYC?

It’s a very high demand time for high end NYC hotels , fashion week, UN general assembly, corporate demand picks back up after summer etc. Tough to find any deals I’d say!

So you want to go to what was always an expensive city, demand 5* and are surprised that it’s expensive??? You just need to brace yourself for the correspondingly stupid prices once you get there, too…

There are some “deals” to be had via Luxury Escapes (dot com). Sofitel is £400 a night over the last weekend in Sept (plus £23/nt destination fee) but I think you need to be more specific in your request – dates, target price, location etc – if you really want people to try and help.

What @SamG said plus events at the Javits Centre and concerts and sports events.

And there has been a reduction in hotel inventory in the last couple of years pushing up rates for available rooms.

Even Emyr won’t have have good i.e. cheap deals other than the extras he can get but those are based on paying fully flex rates.

We used Snap Travel. They may be now called Super Travel.
Rates were quite a bit lower than booking direct

Thanks all. I hadn’t realised that there were so many events going on in September!

    Any other tips gratefully received.

Are there any USA based equivalents of Luxury Escapes etc that might be worth checking?

At the high end, I like the look of this https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/05/23/review-park-hyatt-new-york-hotel/

Thanks for this! So it seems as though one can buy points even though they are new to Hyatt and redeem immediately.

Could this be a situation where buying other hotel points might make sense (especially if there’s a bonus offer on)? It might be an option, especially if you can use the 5 for 4 Marriott/Hilton arrangement (if you have the relevant status).

I think IHG has an 80% bonus offer on but their points prices can still be crazy; I don’t know who is redeeming at 100k+ pn for a Holiday Inn but I’m hoping the madness will end at some point!

The problem for nyc is points are quite often bad value (though perhaps not at September rates) and you may not be able to buy enough points depending on limits. But worth investigating!

Hi all, I have something similar but at the other end, first time visit to NYC last week of October 2023 for 4 nights, not bothered about certain stars, just somewhere conveniently located Midtown I think, and clean and comfortable. I have the Platinum card so status with the hotels via that. Not sure whether to contact Emyr as not really looking for luxury. Thank you!

The Library Group hotels often work for me for decent mid-range cash. Pleasant well run 4*s, with the hotel the group is named after being my favourite. Like, well, everything in Manhattan, their rates can be pretty random by the day, so they may be competitive or hideously expensive on your nights; e.g. weekday nights are anything between $250 and $700 in the next couple of weeks alone.
