Hello,
I have a 10k+ payment to make soon, I currently hold a Virgin ‘Plus card’. I know the recent points changes have upset a lot of people so instead of just whacking the payment on here (I have already hit the voucher for the year) I was thinking of taking up an Avois card or something.
I have no experience/knowledge with Avios, I’ve always flown Virgin etc
The guide says to go for the Gold Card, which should be easy enough to do.
With the BA Premium one, because we have a big spend coming up, would it make sense to apply for this one instead and whack the 10k on it? Or do this with the Gold. (I can split the payments across cards)
I’m going to keep the Virgin+ one for now as we put all payments where possible on our cards so it makes sense to try hit the companion voucher on that still.
Basically, where should I ‘focus’ my attention? (The companion voucher spending ‘renews’ back in July)
Thanks
Ok, I have just discovered this page (from another thread) which is helpful – ie the order to apply in.

Sorry if this seems obvious, I’ve not really delved into the world of this before.
If you spend £15k you get a 2-4-1 voucher with BA if you use the BA amex card. HOWEVER, if you don’t have many avios then you will find yourself having to earn a lot of them in order to use the voucher (plus you have to pay a £300 yearly fee).
The Amex gold is free the first year, and gives you 4 lounge passes and you can convert the points into any alliance. if you are not sure where you will land it may be a better option.
