Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club No Avios flights ….

  • 87 posts

Looking to go away in September, flying club or first.
Looked at HK, Singapore, Dubai… nothing at all.

    Where are all the flights?
No point in having points and vouchers if there are no flights.

You’ve picked three extremely popular routes there and it’s for only four months time so it would be somewhat miraculous if there were any.

Is SeatSpy showing any different though? As @Amy says, OP has left it very late to book popular routes, unless they have a new-style 241 voucher to use which might have extra availability.

At this point, if you want long haul seats in a premium cabin the USA is probably your best bet.

, it sounds like you need to read up on how to maximise your avios opportunities – lots of good articles on HFP!

If you’d consider Avios options without using any type of voucher, may be worth looking at Qatar flights including from UK regional departure points – eg Qatar website showing 2 bus class tickets outbound from Birmingham to HK on Friday 15 Sept for 75k Avios plus ~£350 pp

If you have a 241 BAPP voucher there are shed loads of Business seats. Remember that you need to select the ‘I’m using my BAPP voucher’ box on ba.com to bring up the extra seats.

Starting outside London brings up even more extra Business seats due to the way the BA algorithm works when deciding what extra seats to show.

On Monday I found four seats in Club to the Maldives for October half term starting from a UK regional airport (you’d need 2 x new-style BAPP vouchers to book this for 4 people, admittedly).

As noted above, there is also a huge amount of Qatar availability out of Birmingham because the route has only just launched, albeit you also need availability onwards from Doha.

I just had a look at HK in September and found plenty of seats with a new BAPP 241 voucher.

Indeed – I found plenty of award availability to SYD in Dec/Jan for a couple of readers here using a new 241, starting from MAN. With that route, even having to get to MAN is well worth it against paying current cash prices.

Can’t find any and seatspy also not showing any

SeatSpy doesn’t show the “extra” availability, you have to search by date on ba.com, with your voucher, as mentioned already!

When I look in business class, showing as 300k points return.

Where are you seeing 75k return in business?

That price is economy I think?

No, it’s business class one way. You’re seeing double Avios seats at 300K Avios return.

The availability of standard rewards is probably going to be limited looking 4 months ahead but need to look for ones showing without the 2x ribbon.

Which voucher do you have, and if it’s a BA American Express companion voucher when was it issued?

Using a new-style voucher, there is CW availability MAN – HKG, for example, outbound Sep 6th, inbound Sep 20th. But you can scroll along the dates and it will say “flights available” or not.
