Anyone else received a “Changes to your Tier Point Collection Year” email from BA today? I was having a hard time getting my head around it anyway, but they’ve sent an email whereby unless I’m being dense, their years are all over the place!

This change will move all Executive Club Members onto the same annual collection period of 1 April to 31 March. When your next collection period begins on 9 January 2024 it will end on 31 March 2025 instead of 8 January 2025.

This is a shorter time for you to collect Tier Points, so we’ll add a Tier Point Adjustment to your account, consisting of any Tier Points earnt from 1 April 2024 to 8 January 2024. This Tier Point Adjustment will be added within 14 days of 8 January 2024 and the Tier status earned will remain until 30 April 2026.

Yes… Mine also makes little sense…

Apparently we’re going back in time! 🙂

Ha – you are not being dense. the dates are clearly wrong. They obviously meant 2025 a few times but wrote 2024. At least the diagram was correct!

Yes, my wife had this email and the incorrect dates are sufficiently wrong that it’s obvious and the graphic is correct. I was simply pleased to see that it accorded with what I expected and most importantly, how I had advised my wife it would work.

It is just hilarious that someone at BA thought this was complicated enough that a personalised explainer email was necessary.

And then managed to code it so that it confuses people more than before they received it…

Yep, I just deleted the email as it made no sense. Seems like it wasn’t checked properly.

I’d expect an “oops, sorry” email with the correct dates later today, though this was probably scheduled on Friday and there will be nobody in the office to send out the revised email on a Sunday, so I predict around 10 am Monday.

That email would have been sent around a large number of people internally for sign-off so pretty shoddy they missed the critical date error, unless it was a placeholder, e.g. {dategoeshere} as they will be sending them out monthly to each cohort, in which case the developer is in for some harsh words tomorrow.
