Discuss today's stories:
Question- if a BA flight has two stops would it be expected that reward flights are allocated to both destinations 355 days in advance?
My experience is that this is not necessarily the case.
Hope someone can shed some light on this.
Explanation
My problem is trying to get 2 seats in premium economy using a companion voucher for a flight from LGW to Tobago (TAB) in July/ August 2026 Flight 2159. This flight is via St Lucia and there have been reward flights released for St Lucia but not for Tobago. The last reward flights released for Tobago were for 3rd July. I have used this route many times before and have successfully used Avios and Companion voucher. I didn’t visit this year but in 2024 I also had a problem. As I want to travel at this time I am reluctantly booking flights to Trinidad POS which is not ideal as I will need the connecting local flights. Of course if the Tobago reward flights do eventually appear and I opt to change I will have to pay the admin charges which is really frustrating. I have tried ringing the Club number who can’t help and also sent an email complaint/request. Answer below
Thank you for getting in touch with us about your booking enquiry.
I’m sorry to say I do not have access to the information to be able to answer your question. This does unfortunately mean you’ll need to call your nearest reservations centre to help with your request. You can find their details at ba.com/contactus

I admit I’ve never thought about how they manage that. I assume there are only two Premium seats on the plane, not two to each destination, but I’m not aware of different legs being released separately.
Certainly reward seats to GCM (with a stop in NAS) are released at T-355 as normal. Clearly once they are booked for either segment they are no longer available for the full end to end. Possibly one destination is caught up in the missing reward seats issues while the other isn’t, but that doesn’t help.
Does the st lucia and Tobago have same flight number. Then they may only release one set of 4 at release. If so they will all be taken up by st Lucia. I’d book St Lucia then sort things out within the free 24hrs cancellation period.
@bboden – this has always been an issue with redemption seats on BA’s small number of two sector flights. As above, they don’t double up the number of seats but how they are allocated between the two destinations is inconsistent. You will also often find seats available on both individual sectors but not for the whole trip. The reason BA gives for this is compliance with the Avios contract.
There’s not really a lot you can do about it save to set an alert if they add to or change around the availability. In the olden days BA would fix this for status passengers but those days are long gone!
