Many months ago I asked for some advice before an interview I had with BA as cabin crew. I had some really helpful responses which I was grateful for.
Well, after a very prolonged recruitment process and the most gruelling and intensive 6 week training, I have taken to the skies as a 60 year old newbie! One thing that was abundantly clear during training was how seriously BA take your safety and security, crew joining from other airlines were surprised by the intensity of it.
I am loving it – even with delays, cancellations and the joys of IT glitches.
You will find me down the back atm in WT and WTP – Club training still to come.
Shame there isn’t a way of identifying a HfP reader, but one day I hope to be serving you a glass of something bubbly.
Happy Christmas 🎄
Congratulations njb, great to hear that you are enjoying it so much after putting in all that effort to get there.
Long may your smiles continue, it really makes a difference to passengers to see that attitude.
My daughter should be starting BA cabin crew training at the end of Feb.
Any tips? What was the toughest aspect for you?
How exciting for her!
The toughest aspect is the intensity- it is not academically challenging but relentless. Allow time for the self led learning each day, listen to the trainers (who are amazing and very supportive), and fully commit to it. You are assessed constantly, practical and theory. They are looking for resilience when things get tough.
Everyone had their different challenges, group dynamics are interesting too. We had a range of ages from 19 to 60. We lost two along the way.
The sense of achievement on wings day brought tears to this seasoned professionals eyes!
I wish her every success.
Congrats, welcome to the airborne family.
Love this. Pretty inspirational if you ask me. Hope you continue to enjoy it!

Great insights. Thank you.
Well deserved congratulations njb. Your positive attitude should serve you, and your lucky customers, very well indeed.

Happy Christmas 🎄
The HfP team should come with some sort of pin to put on our jacket. But given most come here to moan I wonder if it would help at all!
Well done you, hope you enjoy the new job and the new places it takes you to in 2023.
Definitely a merchandising opportunity here !
And thank you for your kind words
I last applied in 1982 – decided it was never too late to try again!
