Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Options for Avios booking when BA makes a change to flight

  • 3 posts

    Hi All,
I believe that if BA makes a change to a flight (even if the time changes by 5 minutes) that has been bought using avios, it can be changed to any other flight as long as cash fares are being sold — i.e. even if reward seats are not available.

    My questions are:
    1) Is the above assertion correct? If so, why doesn’t everyone just buy reward seats for a random date with availability and then wait for a BA change to be able to book their dates of choice? If you book far ahead enough (eg. 300+ days before the flight), what is the likelihood that a change will be made?

    2) If BA do make a change and the above assertion holds, then is it possible to change the flight to another destination entirely or can it only be the same destination but a different date/time?

    Many thanks
    Kishan

I think it used to be the case years ago that you could cancel for free if the departure time was changed but it’s more complicated now.

    Where did you see this?
