Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Out and back quandary question

  • 44 posts

After a lot of hard work…spending, I now have my Barclaycard voucher.
I have tried to understand the rules on their site and the numerous and mind boggling comments on here !
But sorry , I would still appreciate some advice.
I want to go to Buenos Aires in Club World both ways from Heathrow.
1 Can I leave the return open as I may like to add on an extra week or so ?
2 If I decided not return from BA, but take an internal flight up to Rio, would I be allowed to return from there instead ?
3 Or am I stuck with firm destination and dates.
    Thank you for your comments

You can change an Avios booking, including one made with the Barclays voucher, for a reasonable fee, up to 24 hours before you fly. I’d try and book the outbound and return as soon as you see availability that works for you, and if you want to try and make a change later, be aware you will need Avios availability on the return flights, which may never happen.

    Thanks for that.
And to change in MMB, could include changing the return airport as well, assuming Avios availability ?
Or would it be best to call back to BA London for that sort of change?

I don’t think you can change airports in MMB.

I appreciate you want to use the upgrade voucher but you’ll need to pay maximum avios for that. It might be worth checking IB pricing from MAD and use the voucher on another trip as it’s valid for 2 years.

Also, when are you planning to go? CW availability seems to be getting snapped up at T-355 for the winter period, so I’d second @memesweeper’s advice of booking as soon as seats are released.
