Is it currently worth venturing beyond the Cathay Pacific First lounge in LHR T3? Qantas? Thanks!

Dining in CX F is fairly decent, although service can be a little slow. I like Qantas for a decent flat white, cocktail and G&T. The QF a la carte dining is excellent, if you are there at the right time to experience it – the squid is my favourite. It’s also often quite quiet in QF. The two lounges are next to each other anyway, so try both if you have time.

I’m here now – good man, thanks Harry. I’ll pop next door too.

Ah so no restaurant service for lunch – only breakfast and dinner.

Yes, it’s a shame they aren’t offering a La carte restaurant dining all day at the moment. I’ve been fortunate enough to be there at the right time recently but there is a long window where they don’t open the restaurant. Hopefully they will extend the hours soon. Did you have a good time anyway?

It’s always trying out other lounges if you have time – if only because you can always go back to your favourite if you realise after 10 minutes you made a mistake.

It’s also possible that there is *something* in a lounge which is generally less well liked that you find you love – a certain beer or spirit, an item on the buffet etc.

Agree Rob, thanks Harry. Having popped in to Qantas for just a “Qantas Christmas Cocktail” in the end, I headed back to Cathay F lounge for a very nice Thai Curry. I was impressed with the F dining room at Cathay, given (status-wise) you can enter with BA Gold/Emerald, whereas Concorde Room access requires significant more TP to enter (with status) in T5. Whilst drinks are better in the CR for sure, from the 4 plates I had at Cathay I’d argue dining is on a par.

Is the Qantas a la carte dining (when open), accessible for all lounge guests, or only Emerald/First pax?

On that topic, aside from Cathay and Qantas (T3 LHR), and Finnair (Platinum Wing HEL) are there any other oneworld lounges in Europe that offer a la carte dining to Emerald members? Of course BA have their First lounges but they’re back to buffet if I’m not mistaken. And globally – Qatar Al Safwa, which I enjoyed once with an Avios ticket, doesn’t allow entry with OW status. Are there any others globally that spring to mind, that do provide true a la carte to Emeralds?

QF LHR is a joint OWE/OWS lounge, once you are in you are in, there is no distinction.

QF SYD and MEL F lounges, accessible to OWE, have table service dining. The CX HKG F lounge(s) should also have this for all OWE once HKG removes the separation between “China” and “foreign” areas of airside, which may happen on 8th January.

The other one I can think of is QF LAX F.

Of course BA have their First lounges but they’re back to buffet if I’m not mistaken.

That’s the J lounges – BA GF @ LHR and LGW had table service as well as buffet before covid. Though I haven’t been into BA F lounges since 2019.

    Thanks John.

Iberia website (and the Oneworld lounge page), claim the T4S lounge offers a la carte dining too, but never seen it?

Velasquez lounge has a la carte dining from 21:00 until 00:30 as I understand it. The facility is intended for those flying on the late night departures heading to Latin America and is adjusted to Spanish dinner time. Effectively it serves only a handful of flights, everyone else has to make do with the (often very good) buffet.

That makes sense, thanks. Agree the buffet is generally very good (do&co).
