I’m thinking about paying my rent through Amex to trigger the 241 and came across a business called Payr. Has anyone used them before? Is it legit?
I did a quick check on the company and looked at its reviews on Trustpilot, it seems fine. But if anyone has firsthand experience with it, that would be a further relief.
I was literally going to ask a similar question today. I recall reading somewhere on this site where a type of debit card was linked to an Amex and used in this way. Will look at Payr.
Ah just seen it’s only possible to pay rent via Payr, so not suitable for me. Are there any similar platforms that allow you to link an Amex? I barely use the BAPP :
🙁
You could do what I do and insist on only living in places that accept credit card payments for rent… although I suspect I am in the minority and this rather limits your options.
Bluechain covers most stuff inc HMRC now.
If anyone has experience of Payr then please post.
The snag of course is that Bluechain fees are a tax writeoff for business users which is a game changer whilst Payr fees are not.
For example I paid £10k to HMRC for VAT via Bluechain on Business Plat last week. Fee was £230 but as I am an effective 47% taxpayer the net fee was 1.2%.
Bus Plat gives 10,000 bonus points for spending £10k in a month so I got 20,000 Amex points.
Net cost to me is 0.6p and I can generate 240,000 per year like this.
