Forums Payment cards American Express Paid off balance via Amex app bank charge went through but app says error

  • 3 posts

Payed off my balance in the AMEX mobile app bank charge went through app says an error occurred and the payment doesn’t show up.
This was done via my saved debit card on file. I have been told to wait 48h by Amex as the charge should eventually appear or be rejected.
Anyone else had this happen and what worked for you?
Panicking now as My balance is still showing unpaid and due on the 16th of the month…
    thanks

Ok, so has the transaction on the bank side actually posted to the ledger or is it showing as pending? There’s a probability that it will simply drop off/reverse/

No need to panic though. It’s due on the 16th, so you can make a faster payment on the 16th and it’ll still get there on time.

It’s still showing as pending, I’m hoping tomorrow it will reverse and Amex have not collected – if not not sure what to do

3 days later still shows as pending so I resent the payment – so now I have two pending payments to Amex though amex now accepted the second one.
hope the old one still times out though its been 3 days already

We had this before and despite assurances that the pending one would go through it didn’t. It was a few £k so I didn’t really want to pay it again and the statement payment date was looming. I did eventually get someone helpful in Brighton who put a note on to say that it was pending and that interest should not be charged. The payment finally fell off two days after the payment date (some 8 or 9 days after I had made the payment) and I immediately paid it again for it to go through instantly (took the BT option). They did charge interest on the non payment but it was soon resolved with yet another phone call. Nothing listed on my credit file for late payment either.

Why not pay from your own bank app and avoid problems?
