I’m due a renewal on my platinum in the next couple of days, but am thinking about cancelling. Assuming there is no change to the pro-rata refund, does it make sense to keep the card until January to hoover up the Harvey Nichs and Dining Credits?
Am I right in thinking I could get the £150 UK dining credit and £50 HN credit before the end of 2024 and then get the new £100 dining credit in January? Is there anything else ‘free’ that I could tap into before I cancel in January (if my assumption above is correct)?
You’ll be eligible for the final (Jan-Jun 2025) £50 HN allowance too.

Yes – got one mid-year as I was going to cancel but a couple of additional family trips meant the maths worked out from using the lounges.

Have you already used the £150 UK dining credit for 2024, and H2 2024 £50 HN credits? If so, these won’t reset until 1st Jan (when the dining credits will drop to £100 per half-year). The credits are calendar year, not card anniversary year, otherwise everyone would have been able to get £300 UK credit a year. As I took my card in November 2023, I was able to use the credits in 2023 and 2024 for a single £650 payment, but that’s only the case in the 1st year of membership; when you renew, you have to wait until 1st Jan to use the credits again.
Btw, I got 35k as soon as I hit the initial 75k SUB (about 4 months into membership), and then a further 50k yesterday once the renewal fee posted. I am therefore keeping the card another year at least. I posted about it on the retention offer thread.
I used the £150 in Dec-23 so guess I’m able to get the £150, then the £100 in Jan, plus the same for HN – £50 this month and £50 next?
Yes if you signed up for a new card this month it’s £150 + £50 in 2024 and £100 + 50 in H1 next year.
