Very surprised to be quoted only £250 odd for a RAV4 equivalent from Avis at ATL this month for a 9 day rental.

    Have prices dropped generally??

I think so……think the car supply and demand has levelled off. Been out several times since Covid for holidays. It’s come down gradually every year. Was about £1200 for two weeks after Covid. Got an intermediate SUV (ford escape / Santa Fe type) booked for £369 this summer holidays from Budget/MCO airport. That’s full inclusive insurance too which covers every eventuality with zero excess.

What company / site are you booking with? I’m looking at hiring a car in DC for 5/6 days and it’s £400 for a limited choice of vehicle with Avis – grand Cherokee but this was from union station in DC and drop off in Dulles.

Also which sites provide the most comprehensive package, fully including insurance etc. I have Avis presidents club but have used Alamo brits in the past when hiring at MCO

In my experience, if you book through a UK site (or say you’re in the UK from Hertz.com etc) and so long as you don’t muck around with CDP codes, you will find the US rentals include fully comp insurance.

However if you say you’re based in the US in a bid to game the system or suggest you have access to a corporate discount that you don’t qualify for, that’s when you’ll start to find things aren’t covered. It should however be laid out clearly enough.
