I have an evoucher to spend and struggle to decide, my winter sun question is not getting much response so am trying a different question as options to spend the voucher later in the year.
Pls share your best experience with BA holidays –
1 where did you go?
2 which hotel did you stay (if part of the package)
3. if you don’t mind a little on why it was so great.
Thanks for helping!
I’m a fan of BA holidays, not least due to the current tier points offer. I’ve had 3 BA holiday bookings in 2022 and my wife 4. This has enabled us to both reach silver status and enjoy the benefits that this brings. We generally go down the flight and car hire route which suits us best as we tend to favour fly drive holidays. My wife did however book flight and hotel Holiday over Christmas and the New Year staying at the Grand Hyatt in Washington. She thought the hotel was perfectly located and all in all a very pleasant place to stay.
I am also a big fan and have used BA Holidays for my last bookings because of the ATOL protection and the fact you don’t need to pay it in full until 7 weeks or so before departure. When we went to Iceland, they cancelled our return flight on a Saturday and I got it rebooked to Sunday the next day. Car rental was automatically extended. We booked hotels separately as we were driving, but I was able to get a reimbursement for the extra night I had to stay in and the meals we had that extra day. In the pandemic as well BA holidays was great because of the generous flexibility. I used Expedia in the past for ATOL protection, but after the difficulty to get my refunds during COVID, have switched to BA Holidays.
I always find the customer service top notch – even when you make a more complex booking that cant be done immediately they actually ring you back!
Twice I have been to a major event ( grand prix and a huge conference) and BA hotel and flight rates were unaffected. This has saved us thousands.
If there is a festival etc abroad and you are aware of dates 10- 11 months before hand it seems BA will not be.
