Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Let’s just say I’m not best pleased after being on hold for 40mins only to get through to somebody who didn’t seem to have a clue and then was cut off at 45mins! A couple of questions please:

Flying Points – Virgin award tier points on flights booked using flying points but are they also meant to award flying points (I think not)?

Points Booster – I’ve done this in the past and received the boosted points on bookings made with points. Today, the person I spoke to told me that points bookings are not eligible for points booster even though I did this online with two bookings and my money was duly deducted from my credit card. Also, I can’t see anywhere in the T&C where is says that points bookings are not eligible for points booster?

50% rebate of points on flights booked during the promo – I checked this when I booked and was told that yes, I would qualify (and looking at the old article on here it seems that I do). I’m not up to 28 days yet but seeing as my boosted points haven’t been awarded (and I’ve actually got an email saying they are now available in my account!) then I’m very sceptical.

Correct on the Virgin points not being awarded on redemption flights (unless in error!), only tier points.

Redemption flights do qualify for Points Booster. The agent you spoken to is clearly misinformed – suggest you try again with a different agent.

I’ve boosted points bookings many times, and they always posted promptly upon flying the actual leg of the flight. I’m quite sure you’ll find old HFP articles on it too.

    (1) Yes. There is a new quirk in that, if you use points to upgrade, you’ll end up – by default – with the TPs for the new cabin, but you can have that changed to the points and TPs by emailing customer.care@fly.virgin.com.

    (2) As others have said, Points Booster works fine on redemption. Challenge that.

    (3) Email customer.care@fly.virgin.com about that, and get their answer in writing. Assuming you met the terms at the point of booking, then you should qualify and you should have your points issued.

    Thanks everyone!
