Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Points earned from points booking at Cannes Carlton

  • 69 posts

Just had a truly terrific 3 night stay at the Carlton in Cannes. The staff were really excellent as was the hotel.

Anyway, it was a points booking and I wasn’t expecting to earn any point from the stay but have just seen c10k points show up in my account from the stay. Is this likely to be clawed back or could it be to do with spending at the hotel & their beach club?

Unexpectedly, we also got breakfast included which was a massive bonus (and delicious). 3 items of laundry were also included which was a bonus as I do like to drop bits of my breakfast all over myself.

It will be for incidental spending, presumably.

Does spending always generate points? I did look (skim) at your IHG pinned article but didn’t see any info on hotel spending at IHG.

We charged c£1,100 and got c10,000 IHG points which seems a bit too good to be true.

If you get 10 points per £1 (it varies by status), that would make sense.

Some hotels give you points for spend, but some don’t – it’s worth knowing that the Carlton does.

Ah, okay. Might make sense then. I’m gold elite via Amex Plat.
