I recently spent some money at a restaurant in a Marriott Hotel as a non-resident customer.
After some chasing the points have been credited to my account yesterday. However, they show on my statement as Type: “Bonus*”.
Is this normal?
I was expecting the points to reset the expiry date of my points (which is in a few days’ time), but the deadline has not changed.
I am also unable to find out why there is an asterix.
Hmmm. Looks like the hotel has posted it wrongly. I would contact Bonvoy now, before anything expires, and see if they can recategorise the charge.
Thank you Rob. I called customer services – which was easier than I expected, and they advised me that it might take another 24-48 hours for the expiry date to be updated. They also mentioned that if it hadn’t updated by then, to call back and they would ask their technical team to investigate.
I am pleased to say that ‘The date of your last qualifying activity*‘ has now updated to reflect the recent spend and moving the expiry date out to 2025. A bit close, but not bad considering the original expiry date was in two days time.
So it seems it takes 2-3 days for the expiry date to be updated.
I also realised what the *asterix refers to. It means that entry is indeed considered ‘qualifying’.
