Heads up. Just cancelled my Centurion Card.
The date of your statement isn’t the date tour fee is due. It can be any day in the preceeding month upto the last statement. They also took over a week to close, Whilst I had to speak to the world and his wife.
Long story short. Statement with fee on it 19th December 2022. Cancellation 8th June. Got less than 50% of the fee back!
I know some readers like to churn, so my message is know your dates of your fee…
I’d had my card 21 Years Centurion and 23 Amex. So I’d forgotten mine, else I’d have cancelled weeks ago.
Are Amex card holders entitled to a pro rata refund of fees or is at Amex discretion? I can’t see where its set out in the T&Cs, I’ve started looking because I was curious whether the same applies in NZ.
What has prompted you to cancel after so long being a cardholder?
I think the calculation is correct? Statement date with fee on it is 19 dec so your anniversary date is around 18 nov = more than 6 months up to 8 june.
The calculation was correct. I was just surprised I got less than 50% back
What has prompted you to cancel after so long being a cardholder?
AMEX are losing the plot on so many different levels. They keep watering down benefits, tightening rules on everything. Just got bored of paying such a high fee for a diminishing product
