Is anyone else having trouble making ATM withdrawals with Curve at the moment? I’ve tried a few times since the start of the month (3 different ATMs) and all failed. The message on the ATM screen says it’s to do with the card provider but the Curve app shows nothing at all.
I have Curve Metal and the underlying card is Barclaycard Avios Plus. The underlying card has plenty of credit available and I have used it successfully, via Curve, for an online payment.
I have messaged Curve tonight and so expecting a reply in the next few days but just wondering if anyone else has had this and/or any theories!
Curve CS is really rubbish, expect a reply about 30 days +.
Im still waiting for an acknowledgement for an unauthorised transaction from 7 days ago
Not teaching you to suck eggs but I generally find that any issues are due to really simple things like forgetting to unfreeze Curve 🤦🏻♀️
My feeling with this however would be to wait a bit longer and see if it resolves itself – nothing good ever comes from drawing attention to something that isn’t wholly advisable to begin with!

I’m not sure why you would be surprised that these sort of transactions that breach your Barclaycard agreement don’t routinely work?? You will find you have no problems using any cards if you play by the rules.
I have done multiple Curve ATM transactions this week including one with the Barclaycard. It worked fine.

These transactions have worked fine many times in the past and there is no reason to believe that anything has changed in the way Barclaycard treats these transactions (as confirmed by other posters).

Barclaycard treats these transactions incorrectly because it is receiving incorrect information from Curve which is what you are relying upon. That doesn’t alter the fact you are knowingly breaching your Barclaycard agreement by exploiting the error.
@Wally1976 – apart from breaching the agreement, it seems incredibly unwise to advertise and then repeat that you are using your Barclaycard Avios Plus as the underlying card if you wish to keep playing this game!
Ok, I thought this was pretty common knowledge but Rob, please delete this thread if you are reading.
Thank you for the replies everyone.
you’d be surprised…
What’s surprising is that people proudly advertise their abuse of a card, something obviously undesirable to Barclays, then others respond, yet they will all make a big fuss when it gets stopped courtesy of the publicity engendered by the thread.
Curve changed the MCC for cash withdrawal in March, which might be the cause. There was a thread of discussions about Virgin starting to charge cash advance due to this.
Is it still free to withdraw via atm curve metal?
I used to do it all the time (obviously before I knew it was against the T&C’s so promptly handed myself into the local cop shop of course, and god has forgiven me since).

Up to £1k a month, yes. Eeks a bit more value out of the monthly fee.
As an update, I tried a withdrawal on Thursday and it worked fine (different ATM to any used previously) and no charge from Curve or Barclaycard.
No reply from Curve yet to my message (no surprise)!
