Flew 2 legs lhr doh in a380 then doh to sez in 777. The amenity kit on the first leg was a cardboard box with, frankly, rubbish in it. I would have expected better from Jet2 in a “premium Goa” flight. Completely unacceptable. Has W Walsh taken over Qatar in a “consultancy” post?
Did you get the correct one on the second leg?
Just flown ARN-DOH-ADL – got the the cardboard box on the first leg and thin black plastic pouch (just bigger version of BA one) both with small quantity Diptyque products. It’s a long way from the old Brics ones, but I found every other aspect of the service, food and wine, much better than previously. Pearl lounge in Stockholm is dire though.
It’s now mostly a cardboard box with Diptyque products, but you should get hand cream, lip balm, moisturiser and 10ml EDP plus socks, eye mask, ear plugs and tootbrush.
Plus don’t refer to Qatar J as club world. Chalk and cheese.

OT: Have been researching getting to ADL myself in the near future. How was the flight? Any particular reason why you started from ARN (I assume either increased award availability or cheaper fare..)?
It’s all part of an environmental commitment – flights from Doha are in a vegan leather pouch (ie plastic) and flights back to Doha are in a cardboard box so the pouch you got on the outbound can be reused to put the contents of the box in. The contents of both is the same high quality Diptyque products which we could only dream of BA providing in business class.
I don’t think Al Baker would let Willie (who hasn’t actually run an airline since 2011) anywhere near his airline!
I have no objections to having an amenity kit in a paper box or even a paper bag if it saves on excess plastics

Significantly cheaper starting in ARN and return via CPH – just over £3k. It’s a 787 from ARN but I still like that seat, better than Club Suite, just without a door. Q Suite to Adelaide which is really easy for arrival – lots of electronic passport readers that give you a ticket to through a gate. Luggage arrived within 5 mins so out within less than 15 minutes of disembarking.

Trouble is that it’s a particularly horrid plastic pouch that will go in the bin. Diptyque is fine, but nothing very special; it’s the only aspect that isn’t much superior to BA.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Diptyque, which I think is far superior to The White Company.
@Andrew J – I don’t disagree re the White Company which is just another clever artifice like the Ivy designed to scam the middle classes.

Glad to see the jet-lag hasn’t blunted any of your “verbal” acuity, @JDB 🤣
Enjoy your fishing trip to Oz with your mates !
My wife and I are off to BNE in QR J to celebrate my brother’s 50th in two weeks’ time and I’m grateful to you for your multi-city booking advice which made for a surprising cost saving at the time.
Itinerary is LHR-OSL-DOH-BNE with overnight hotel sleeps in OSL and DOH.
Return is BNE-DOH-MXP-LHR with overnight sleep in MXP.
BA CE positioning flights plus QR tier points will easily set both of us up for BAEC Silver Status to Dec 2024 so happy days.@WaynedP actually, I too am in Australia for birthday celebrations with my best friend, albeit it’s our 60th and about 1½ years late owing to covid.
I got the cardboard box recently on MEL-DOH, disappointing but better than an equipment swap which is what I used to get. Although I did get Brics amenity bags on those, I was hoping the cardboard box was a world cup thing (mine was FIFA co-branded). The Brics kits were very good quality, I still use one on every trip to keep medications and whatnot in.
I’m alarmed that OP thinks the amenities kit on Qatar business is “rubbish”. Diptique is miles better than the BA White Company kt. Plus you aso get a pyjamas kit for sleeping too, and slippers for the plane!
And then there is the rest of Qatar soft product. Course by course dining, mix and match, anytime. Better selection of drinks and wines. Much more friendlier service.
Give me Qatar anytime over BA or AA in One world.
