Qatar Avios Booking – Fees in USD

I am looking to book MLE-MAN with Qatar and the fees are being shown in USD. Is there any way to get around this? I can use my Chase to avoid conversion fees, however I would rather use my Amex to get the benefit of travel insurance!

I don’t think so – I had to pay in rials when I booked DOH-MAN, though as it was in economy the taxes were only about £60 each.

Generally no, if you’re starting your journey outside the UK you’ll pay in the currency of the starting point.

The only way around is to book via a travel agent (but of course you can’t do that with an Avios flight) who will convert to GBP at a much worse rate than Amex’s 2.99%.

One thing that will help is somehow I can still book row 1 for DOH-MAN!
