@iamlost – do you mean the insurance rule has been dropped? If there’s demonstrable evidence of this, we won’t bother getting it, if not, as mentioned above, it’s only £10pp to avoid any potential issues on arrival!
Yes – not only does the FCO make it clear this rule applies to stays of 30+ days, even the Qatari government website says so! No one staying less than a month needs to buy an approved policy, but is of course advised to have their own coverage.

Good news, many thanks for clearing this up! Just wondering what our GP is going to say when we ask for letters to cover our 4 or 5 lots of prescription meds!
