I’m keen to travel to Thailand with a +1 in November/early December this year. When I last searched (which was about 6 weeks ago) there was plenty of availability for reward flights with Qatar and I presumed this was due to so many flights from London. This was directly to Bangkok.
Now when I search on the BA site, there’s very little availability with Qatar to Bangkok but decent availability to Phuket. I’ve tried the Qatar site too, using the calendar option it suggests flights are available for the lowest Avios fare but then clicking into a date they’re all occupied. 95% of the seats are ‘Flexi awards’ and double the avios.
What’s the easiest way to search for these reward seats? I’m flexible on dates, ideally would travel from London (and taxes are low) but equally if I need to travel to another airport to get the outbound flights to Bangkok in business, or vice versa travel back to another European airport to get the one way from Bangkok in business then I’m happy to, so any other airports with good avails recommended would be great. Thanks!
Just did a quick look.
If you do not stick to Qatar
For outbound, on 3 and 15 Nov, 2J available on Royal Jordanian (LHR-BKK).
For inbound, loads of J and F availability on Qatar (BKK-EDI) in Nov.
Thanks. Royal Jordanian is an option but significantly more Avios than Qatar. Edinburgh could be a good option for the return if just getting the onward flight back to London.

How long is your trip? Maybe spend some days in Phuket (so LHR to Phuket), take a flight from Phuket to Bangkok, and then some days in Bangkok (BKK-EDI)?
That’s the plan, makes a lot of sense! I did have a quick look last night and actually didn’t find many flights from Bangkok to Edinburgh for 2 people in business. In fact none solely on Qatar from memory. I was using BA’s site but I imagine more show on Qatar but with the ‘flexi’ fare so double Avios. Business should be 75k one way with Qatar.

Had a look again for BKK-EDI in Nov for two seats (on BA site)
Business available on 5,6,7,10,11,12,14,16,20
First available on 2,7,8,9,11,12,14,15,16
For BKK-MAN in Nov
Business available on 3,5,6,7,9,10,11,16,23
First available on 4,7,8,9,14,16
Hope one of the dates suits you.
Thank you. I can see those, not sure why I couldn’t yesterday. The only issue is that they’re priced at 186k one way vs the 100k to London, which is strange and doesn’t make sense to pay such a huge premium.

I think it should be 150K for two?
You can book on the QR site, the availability is the same, and the price is right (150k).
