Qatar Plane Change Lost Seat Selections

It appears that we have become victims of the QR plane change shafting where the A380 Qsuite got swapped for a 777 Qsuite without them telling anyone. Our centre seat selections had disappeared and instead of transferring 1:1 they just left you to work it out yourself and obviously all centre suites are unavailable now.

Does anyone know if QR block out the centre suites or are they more likely to have been already taken by other pax?

Is there any way to protect ourselves from future shaftings, other than checking our bookings every day? It would be a good feature for seats.aero to add, if they can get the aircraft type in search results.

@Kuestrian – the A380 doesn’t have Q Suite, so you haven’t lost out anything there. The main centre seats aren’t usually blocked save for bassinet positions/front row. There are probably other sites, but I use ExpertFlyer for aircraft change alerts. The good thing on QR is that all the wide body seat variants are good. We don’t like middle seats, and anyway I’m not sure they are so good for communication!

Thanks for pointing that out. For some reason I thought we were Qsuite on all 4 legs to/from Aus but it was just that one that was the A380 (and hence non-Qsuite), so obviously they couldn’t transfer it 1:1. Notification would have been nice, though.

I see what you mean about the A380 centre seats being unsociable. I’ll keep an eye out if any centre Qsuite seats open up but the windows will do as that leg is prime for sleeping anyway.
