Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Qatar Airways reward bookings

  • 159 posts

I’ve checked previous post but can’t find the answer.

I’m looking at booking Qatar reward flights using avios.

I have linked my BA account to my Privilege account. My avios in the ba account is visible when I login into Qatar.

If I make a reward bookimg will Qatar pull the avios from my ba account or do I need to transfer the avios using the transfer option?

A dummy bookimg would suggest I don’t need to transfer as it let’s me select the flights without transferring the avios.

Another question I have is are the Qatar flightS released earlier on the Qatar site than the ba site…it looks like this is the case, but would appreciate anyons experiences on this matter.

    Thanks

I’ve only done it once back in January but Qatar pulled the Avios required through from BA.

I’ve had both situations – confirmed bookings where the Avios have been pulled through from my BAEC account, and another when it would only book after I transferred the Avios to my Qatar account. The latter is quick, easy, and reversible, so no harm in doing so.

This thread has been helpful as I looking to book soon. Am I right in thinking that it’s cheaper to book a flight to BKK as one booking rather than LHR-DOH and DOH-BKK separately?

Seats are released a few days earlier on the Qatar platform.

Thanks all, I’ll transfer the avios and get it booked when they are released on qatar.

    That’s the correct decision.
Be cautious of suggestions on this site about using BAEC to book Qatar Airways flights on the basis of being easier to cancel or modify.
