Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club QR booking made via BA using Avios – boarding pass issues

  • 341 posts

On Saturday me and the wife are travelling from SIN-DOH-LHR in business class using ba Avios booked via ba.com (QR flight numbers)

Ticket is 1 way as we went out to BKK on another pnr on QR

We have gone to check in online tonight and it’s saying it won’t issue us a boarding pass we have to collect from the airport , it’s saying it’s issued a confirmation email to take to the airport

Is this normal ? A little concerned, is it the case the flight is overbooked and we might be bumped hence why not issuing us a boarding pass ???

3 weeks ago we went LHR-DOH-BKK booked same method , no issues getting bordering pass online

    Advise appreciated

Flying Finnair from SIN last winter and that also insisted on airport check in – not sure if it’s a thing for Changi?

You could try the early check in at the Jewel to sort any issues out in advance, up to 24hr before?

Ps. Enjoy the Qatar lounge once you finally get airside!

I’ve a vague recollection I couldn’t get them when I flew BA last either

I wouldn’t make a special trip to the jewel, if you’re getting bumped then that’s going to happen regardless of being checked in or not.

If you’re on the 10.45am flight it’s very busy but not completely full selling 1 seat. Evening flight selling 5 seats

Hi thanks for advice it’s actually Sunday flying (10.45am) could it be due the ticket being 1 way , it’s qr flight numbers but I used avios to pay for ticket via the BA website we are gold so hope we are not bumped …

That flight is showing J9 (at least 9 seats for sale) so definitely not going to be getting bumped off that !

As we say- think you just can’t use a mobile pass out of Changi. Wouldn’t be worried about it anyway as long as you’ve got a ticket number 125- showing in the BA app

I’ve had the same problem in SIN, which caught me on the hop last time as was connecting and hoped to be airside for several hours rather than landside. Talking to the SIN equivalent of Border Force they said that due to fraud with mobile and self-printed boarding passes, an airline-printed BP is required, hence the need to go via a desk. (Great unless you’re there 5 hours before the desk opens…)

Same thing in Delhi last week. Used mobile BPs on all airlines all over India then printed one required for the last sector when leaving the country.

Thanks all for advice , no issues at all when checking in as you quiet rightly said it’s standard practice apparently

Let’s just hope the flight is on time from SIN the connection is rather tight from DOH to LHR , one would imagine that as using points booked via BA it might be difficult to get rebooked into business on the next flight which I believe is a couple of hours later

If you misconnect in Doha then Qatar will rebook you, not BA at that point. Won’t be an issue

Interesting! They always scanned the mobile ones, wonder if they’ve some issue retrieving the data or something.

Depending on the airline if you just need a BP you may be able to get them from a kiosk or the early check in area of the Jewel. You can also try figuring out online who handles them e.g. SATS and asking at another desk they’re running if they could print it for you

All went fine – time for the lounge in DOH too. When we checked in at SIN was Q suite all the way to london.

Just checked in at the gate at DOH and there has been an aircraft change still 777 but not q suite … I hope it’s not the prehistoric 777 2-2-2 we had from DOH-BKK last month , those seats were old and way past there date
