Recommendations for Upgrade Voucher usage?

Anyone got any recommendations for routes / destinations Barclays Cabin Upgrade voucher usage (just the 1) with circa 140,000 Avios to get the most value.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for routes which I could use the Upgrade voucher for 2 people on 1 leg + use avios separately to get them in the same cabin?

A typical long haul route is 95K off peak Premium to upgrade to Club, 140K would cover the peak cost. Off peak gives better savings and therefore value then peak.

There isn’t much difference in value compared to straight reward costs by route. Best value compared to cash fares is obviously on the most expensive routes, but surely you should be choosing where you actually want to go.

I don’t understand your second question as you need the same four reward seats either way. How does the route matter?

If you don’t want to go to say Dubai or Boston why would you go just because you can use the voucher on it?

Don’t forget you’re going to have to get home as well, so you need to pick a route which either allows you to use your remaining avios or where one-way cash flights aren’t disproportionately expensive.

So just by way of example, upgrading from PE to CW to JFK would cost 85k avios, off peak, leaving you 55k avios which would get 2 of you back in economy.

If you’re travelling when cash flights are very expensive, using the voucher on a short-haul route can be good value, even with the requirement to pay the highest avios/lowest cash option.
