I was booked into a new Ikos hotel on Corfu in early June, but the construction has been delayed and Ikos have moved us to their hotel in Spain for the same dates. They are covering the cash cost of equivalent flights to Malaga, but I had booked one of the original Corfu flights (direct with BA, no through the travel agent) with cash in economy and then UUA to club. Clearly whatever I get back is a bonus given they are covering the cost of the new flights, but from people’s experience what can I expect by way of a refund for BA given the ticket was cash (a non refundable economy fare) but was subsequently upgraded using Avios? Does it become a de facto Avios booking or will I just get back the originally refundable components? Thanks!
No it did not become an avios booking when you UUAd.
You will get back the refundable elements (less admin fee)
You should call to do this so the UUA can be unwound first and then the cash ticket cancelled.

Ah ok, I have requested the cancellation online already so will see what comes back. It was only for 2 tickets on the return leg anyway so given I am already quids in will just see what BA do.
