Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Refund of BA Avios ticket

Hi. I have a LHR – IAD avios return ticket, booked using a barclays upgrade voucher. I need to cancel – BA.com just invites me to fill in a form and says their calculation will be final. Before I submit this, can I confirm I should get back all avios, and the voucher with original expiry date, and all the cash paid, minus a 35GBP fee? The fee is 35GBP per ticket per person (only me), not per flight yes? Many thanks

That is my understanding of what the terms and conditions say but BA are a law unto themselves.

@PB2 – I took a chance on this recently but the avios and cash all came back as expected. Then last weekend I had to cancel 2 more bookings and the forms showed exactly the amount of money coming back so who knows what’s going on with BA IT?! That refund posted the next day as well which I’ve not seem for a very long time!

Interesting – in the end yesterday I cancelled 2 Avios reward bookings, which just had the form to complete and no details of exactly what would be returned. The following day, today, I received all Avios back and the Barclays voucher with original expiry. Yet to confirm the cash refund total on CC. I also cancelled one cash ticket – during the cancel process it showed me the taxes paid (which is all that could be refunded) minus a £15 admin fee, before I hit the confirm button.

Out of interest – one reward booking was a LGW – PMI in CE. My understanding is that the refund fee of £35 is the same as the change fee of £35? By clicking the change flight button and trying to adjust the date, it strictly offered me only LGW-PMI departures – is it possible to swap a flight to say LCY/LHR – PMI? Or as you pay £35 either way, changing date or cancelling, best to just cancel and rebook if wishing you change airports?

I assume there is no option to cancel to a BA voucher anymore?

A cash ticket PMI-LON-PMI wanted 50€ plus fare difference to change dates, again offering no flexibility to adjust airports online, so a tax refund -£15 made most sense.

I would cancel and rebook unless you are worried about availability disappearing, in which case call.

I agree that doing online changes fails to show alternative airports.

I booked two tickets to SAO for 16 March using a Barclaycard Upgrade Voucher and 78,000 Avios.
I cancelled the booking using the online form one week prior to departure.
The taxes and fees were refunded but to date I am going round in circles to get the Avios credited back to my account and to have the voucher reissued.
Two replies I have received state that Avios are not refunded if I make a voluntary cancellation, which I believe is incorrect.
Another two replies refer me to the terms and conditions which clearly state that the points will be credited back and the voucher reissued.
None of the replies even mention the voucher.
Reading the other replies I believe I am due the points refund and voucher reissue.
Can anyone confirm that this is correct before I try to get through to BA.
