I may have to cancel a booking I made at the last minute, so am hoping to try to get an idea of the answer before I phone if possible…
I made a cash booking which is non-refundable. I then upgraded the outbound with points which incurred an additional £100 in taxes and then upgraded the return leg with a voucher which incurred an additional £230 in taxes. Does anyone know if I can cancel and get the upgrade voucher and points plus the additional taxes I paid back? (I know I’d only get the fees and charges of the original cash element). Or are you not able to “un-upgrade” a ticket??
Thanks for any help
I believe you can get back the tax and voucher elements of the flights. Virgin charge £30 admin fee. Best to do over the phone at 7am, if you don’t want a long wait on hold.
Thanks Ash – That’s what I was hoping. Shall see what they say.
I asked this of the Gold line recently, and got told “no”, even though I am certain it always was – and probably still is – policy. Sadly, the reason for wanting to do this (i.e. reduce the outlay to UC on points) has disappeared now, but it would still be interesting to see how you got on.
