Hello – My BAEC account years runs from April to April. In April this year, I was Blue, but a holiday in the summer pushed me through Bronze and to Silver. This was due to the BA holidays offer that I didn’t even realise existed at the time of booking! 🙂
My understanding is that having reached this tier in the summer, I’ll have Silver for the remainder of this account year and then all of the following year? My card expiry date is showing as May 2024 currently, but I am also only 10 points away from ‘Retain Silver’ (currently at 590 points) – if I hit this, will it extend my Silver status through to May 2025, or am I missing something? Thanks!
If I read this right, no you won’t. You triggered Silver on the discounted/promotional tier point total and BA’s IT is struggling a bit with this.
So you are correct in that you have silver for the remainder of this collection year and the next year, but earning another 10 points doesn’t give you anything extra. Silver status was already triggered at 450TPs and the next one would be Gold if you got to 1125TPs by the end of this year or 1500 before your collection year ends.
Yes, the 10 pts away from retaining Silver is just a ‘feature’ of BA IT not being able to cope with the reduced threshold of 450 if you reach that before end 2022. You are good for Silver til MAy 2024
