Hi,
Are there any reviews kicking around of the Amex lounge other than the press previews? Trying to get an idea as to what it’s like under normal ops? Rammed? Food/service any good?
Many thank
I haven’t seen many full reviews but I was there on 14th November around 4pm and there for the last 90 minutes or so of opening. At that time it was relatively quiet and we could have sat in any of the areas.
Food, drinks, and service were all excellent. The whole lounge feels like a cut above any other we’ve visited before. If you’re passing I’d recommend checking it out.
It is a smallish space, so can become quite busy. Two weeks ago it was packed. It’s not really designed for couples travelling together as there is not enough seating places for two people to face/sit next to each other. The middle section has a huge sofa with seating on both sides. This is impractical and uncomfortable and you’re close to other people so I wouldn’t sit there in pandemic times anyway.
My partner and I grabbed the the last two booths on the corner so at least we could see each other without having to lean.
Having said that, the service and the food is on par with any First class lounge (BA excluded). Also, the lounge closes at 6pm.
Looking forward to the review by @Rob.

Although that was a press event so not really accurate of the actual offering.

And again was from the press preview – no shortage of those on the web, but to the extent that they’re essentially useless because the place wasn’t running as usual. To that extent, a “real world” HFP review wouldn’t go amiss (but am sure that point hasn’t escaped the team, either…)
The F&B and service offering is exactly the same as during the press event. No changes there. It’s really great.
The only issue for me is the lack of good seating spaces during busy times, especially . I’d probably go and have a quick bite there, then move to Qantas lounge for more drinks and space. I’m flying again next week from T3 early afternoon on a weekday, so will see if it is less crowded.

If you could, that would be great. The only review I found which wasn’t from the press event was complaining that the food was stone cold. Will be a weekday late morning for me, but I think the airline provided option is the No. 1 lounge.
