I’ve been informed by BA via email that my outbound reward flight to the USA has been cancelled. I’ve managed to rebook this outbound part to a flight to the same destination that leaves/arrives 5.5 hours later on the same day.
Two questions:
Does BA’s standard compensation policy for cancelled flights apply to reward bookings?
And if so, the flight was due to take off on Thursday 4 May 2023 at 12:35, and I was informed Friday 21 April at 17:34 – does this class as 14 days notice, or 13 days notice? I’m working back from 04 May and I make it 13 days? Obviously this point is rather critical!
Thanks.
The rule is actually two weeks rather than 14 days and the permitted delay time for a cancellation notified between two weeks and seven days in advance (which is how it is expressed in EC261) to avoid compensation is four hours, so you are OK on both fronts and at 13 days notice, ‘extraordinary circumstances’ almost certainly don’t apply.
