In mid December I cancelled four Virgin UC reward flights as my plans had changed. The expected refunds for taxes, etc have yet to materialise. I chased it up last week to escalate the issue but still no resolution.
Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, how long did it take to receive the refunds please ? The amount in question is not insignificant.
Thanks
The last time I cancelled a reward flight, I had the TFS back with me within a week (on my statement, so probably actually processed by VS within a few days).
@Uptown Dunk – I would pursue with Virgin for a few more days and if you still aren’t refunded ask your card company to do a chargeback for which you will need documentary evidence of the refund due.
Requested taxes and charges refund and return of voucher after ticket cancelled 30th nov, (according to email timeframe should have been 10-12 days).
Nothing happened until I chased it Jan 2nd. Refund hit my account on 10th Jan but was only half of what I was due (they refunded only one leg), chased again on 10th and still waiting for the other half.
Still waiting for a refund of CFTs on an AF award ticket booked with VS that I cancelled 29 November. CFTs paid on the VS Mastercard.
Refunded 24th December, points and companion voucher returned but still waiting for the cash element to come back.
Filled in the contact form because flying club number does the usual ‘high volume of calls’ and then cuts out.
Same here, cancelled flight from israle to London on 18th December. Points back straight away, still waiting for taxes.
Chased today and they have apparently placed it on a 4 day escalated spreadsheet to get the refund sorted.
It’s very slack, but I had the same problem during lockdown. Had to use a section 75 to get the refund back in the the end.

Try pressing 1 then navigating the IVR to existing bookings. I’ve done that twice and got through in 10 seconds.
To update, I’ve now received refunds for the first two flights. This was after I sent a polite email to the VA CEO asking for his help.
I’m usually loathe to go down that route but sometimes it is necessary to get an adequate response.
Refunds for the remaining two flights are still outstanding.
