Hi All,
I’m aware that virgin release reward flights 330/331 days in advance, 8 in economy, 2 in premium and 2 UC – however … does anyone have ant knowledge / experience of any additional seats becoming available and when that may be? Looking for some flights next year and frustratingly there are only single reward flights (1 in eco) available and i require 2 so i can’t book at the moment.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
100% yes. See my post in today’s thread.
I’ve been waiting a month for a date in Dec, refreshing daily and the return flight which showed 0,0,9 is now showing 9+,9+,9+ this morning.
Bookmark the route/month page you want in the beta availability checker (it stays as a static link) and just open it each morning. Better than seatspy and the alternatives.
There will be no answer to your question as to if/when because it depends on the route, and their revenue management algorthims
Thanks @davefl!
The availability checker is showing flights, but when you go to book the flights online or call the contact centre there aren’t any flights available!
Strange, maybe they’ve already gone if they’re popular routes/times. People with seatspy alerts maybe jumped on them at 8am.
I had no problem an hour ago booking UC flights that only appeared overnight.
Very! whats even more stranger is i’ve put a hold via the contact centre on two flights going out (for 3 days apparently) as the return flight on the tracker is showing there are 8 economy flights available, but not bookable by the contact centre or online.
As soon as the hold has gone on the 2 outbound flights, the availability tracker now shows no availability going out … which has updated straight away within an instant!
So lord knows why none of the return flights that say there are 8 available are bookable!

There can be discrepancies between the Reward Seat Checker and the relevant GDS. They usually straighten out.
In a positive or negative way @al ??i.e. will those flights just disappear or will they re-appear to be bookable!
I recently tried to book a UC with VS and saw that there were over 9+ seats available via the reward seat checker. I couldn’t book online so when I called the contact centre, the agent told me that the number doesn’t take into account the fact that there are passengers who haven’t selected their seats. So in fact there were no more UC seats so I went and booked BA instead Ha!

I would say they told you a porkie. My flight showed none last night and shows 9+ today and I booked one.
That explanantion you were given would mean that 9+ people un-booked seats
I concur with @davefl – the data doesn’t come from the seat map, but rather inventory.
@petchy1984 It could be either way.

Ahh I see. I should’ve known. The agent sounded a bit unsure of himself too.
