we are going to Tenerife over Christmas. usually renting a car but don’t want to bother this time.
What is your experience with taxis/ride-hailing in Tenerie? What apps are working?
Thanks
No apps, just the old fashioned hail-and-ride. However it’s very easy and I never got overcharged.
Your municipality may have an app, otherwise they’ll have a phone number and they’ll speak english. But in a tourist area you can hail one or find the rank.
Similar in Lanzarote and had no issues getting two each time including NYE
We had a problem with our car hire so wasnt expecting to use taxis and had no issue getting one at the airport on arrival either but did prebook a transfer back
Los Cristianos and Play de las Americas definitely have taxis using the 1Taxi! app.
It depends on the municipality as to whether there is an app for that geographic area.
If I try and use the app to request a taxi in Costa Adeje it will tell me the taxi company is t using the app yet and provide a phone number to call

do you have meal plans for Christmas day? we are also there (airbnb), and not 100% sure what our options are other than cooking for ourself (which is reliant on our Christmas Eve flight getting in with enough time for us to go out and buy some food in!)
If you join the local facebook groups you’ll get some good ideas of somewhere you can book in advance for Xmas day meal. Usually you’d be able to find someone to do a grocery delivery but Xmas eve may be tricky
Hotels will usually call you at taxi – they are strictly metered so you shouldn’t be charged extra for this. At the airport there are plenty though you can always book a transfer in advance.
I would think plenty of restaurants will be open on Xmas day due to it being peak season for tourism. January 6th (dia de los reyes) is more of a big deal in Spain.

We are flying on Christmas Eve as well and a bit worried about pre-Xmas food shopping.
Plenty of places were open on Christmas day when we visited 3 years ago.

Brilliant – thank you 🙂
