Same-day change with open-jaw through MMB not available?

Hello,
I have an upcoming Econ Plus open-jaw booking where I’d really like to perform a same-day change based on how meetings go (and supposing availability exists). The route is LHR-ZRH; GVA-LHR on different dates.

Having randomly checked MMB, albeit prior to the date travel, I see the following:

> It’s not possible to make changes to this booking online. Please get in touch with your British Airways Customer Services team for further assistance.

Is it normal that I’d have to ring BA for this given the nature of the routing? Does anyone have experience with this?

I have always been able to quickly change the time through MMB before for my round trips, this is the first time the return is not also from ZHR.

Absolutely — call BA at midnight +1minute. The change can be made last time I did this (although that was several years ago). I also found the call centre could do same day changes involving a change of airport in the same country (departure or arriving) which definitely isn’t possible online. YMMV.

Remember it’s midnight UK time.

And I would try online before calling. MMB isn’t going to show it as an option until the day of the flight.

Plus since you won’t know what time your meetings will end until well into the day you shouldn’t be doing SDC at midnight anyway.

Though given it’s now the summer season the opportunity’s for SDC may well be very limited so don’t rely on it being available.

My one SDC failure happened last summer. It’s not an experience I want to repeat of there being no SDCs available at all when I checked at 1.00 AM Amsterdam time. There wasn’t even the paid option to switch to LHR!
