Hello All, I thinking of moving my BA flights over to Iberia where I am a basic Clasica level( I’m BA silver) and earning status through Iberia. Has anyone signed up for this plan? If so can you open an account from the uk( Jersey) and it will work. I have a property in Spain would it be better to open up the account with that address as I don’t “live” there. I want to get the credit card with it and do my spending on that. I emailed Iberia and there response was look at the terms and conditions which made no sense to me. Hope you can help
If you use the Spanish account you get the same Iberia club services but sometimes they send specific Spain only offers (half avios redemptions on Black Friday for instance).
Now that basically all airlines no longer mail out physical membership cards, it doesn’t really matter what address you register with, except for if (as you say) you want to get a linked credit card.
One thing to bear in mind and this is an issue with Amex and may not apply to other cards is that if the addresses don’t match the points aren’t able to be transferred between the CC and airline accounts.
I’d check the IB board on flyer talk for questions like yours.
As far as I’m aware there is no Spanish residency requirement to hold an IB account.
Jersey isn’t part of the UK.
