Has anyone stayed here yet (I think it’s only been open a couple of months)? I’ve booked 5 nights in August as our plans have changed quite late in the day and the IC wants an arm and a leg for extra nights. Reviews have been very good so far. Location looks excellent and apparently the breakfast is as well, though it’s not clear whether golds just get “continental” or free rein of the buffet.
I can’t recall ever eating from the hot buffet in Portugal. When the cold meats and cheeses are as good as they are in Portugal, I’ve never felt the need or desire to take the bacon and eggs. Are the reviwers so far suggesting there’s something special about the hot breakfast food in particular? I think you’ve chosen a good location and enjoy it while eating your Iberian ham and Azores cheese.
And of course pasteis de nata! You can fill up at Castro as late morning snack if they don’t serve it. It’s only five minutes away.
I’ve heard that the hotel is good, but don’t have direct experience as hotel opened in November I think.
I’ll report back after our stay. I do love scrambled eggs with Iberian ham and cheese! I’m pretty sure there were definitely pasteis de nata in one of the photos as well.
