Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Second guest stays free – Diamond benefits

    Hi

Looking at booking a hotel in Germany that has an executive lounge. Rate is higher if selecting 2 guests instead of 1.

I understand if the rate includes eg breakfast then the second guest stays free benefits don’t apply.

However I’m planning to book a room only rate in a standard room as I get free breakfast and lounge access with my Diamond membership.

My question is, if I book a room for one person will the second person also receive free breakfast and lounge access courtesy of my Diamond membership? I can put their name in as an additional guest but the room would be booked for one.

I will obviously check with the hotel direct but just wondering if anyone has practical experience of this? It rarely comes up.

    Thanks

If you ask the hotel explicitly, they are more likely to say no. If you say nothing it should be fine. Of course you have to book a room that actually fits two people, not a single room.

By the terms, the second guest does have to be registered which is met by having their name in the additional guest field. Worst case you just pay the excess to have 2 in the room, but I’ve never had to.

How much is the price difference out of interest?!

Yes as long as you book a standard rate with no breakfast, then there will be no charge. I do this a lot as Hilton Diamond, as I travel to Germany a fair bit and rates are almost always more expensive for two. I normally just message the hotel on the app a few days before (most now seem to have that ability) and just say I want to add a 2nd guest, understand no charge due to my status etc.
