Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Settle an argument….CW baggage allowance long haul

  • 40 posts

    Hi,

BA website says we can take 2 bags max 32kg. Is this 32kg the combined weight of both bags or is it that we can take 2 bags each with 32kg so totalling 64kg ?

My wife thinks it’s the former, I think the latter.

    Thanks.

Each bag can be 32kg EACH. Luggage allowance is really a saving grace for BA. One caveat – I have read that at some airports baggage handlers will refuse to lift anything over a certain weight. We’ve never had a case refused though, but once or twice they’ve slapped a “heavy bag” sticker on if it’s over the standard 23kg allowance.

If you do go over the 23kg you’re allowed in economy, you may have to remind the check in staff that you’re entitled to more.

That’s what I thought. You’d think the BA website would add the words “per bag” to their description to avoid any ambiguity. Thanks for the quick reply.

64kg is a lot of luggage. I hardly use my allowance as I can’t be bothered to lug it around with me. Besides if I need anything I didn’t pack I just buy it locally.

We never use anything like the allowance and we pack everything plus the kitchen sink. OH’s scuba gear comes along with us a lot of the time and when we go to GCM we take lots of food items because it’s so eye-wateringly expensive there, including a couple of wine boxes! In fact sometimes we are limited to 23kg each as we might be coming home in Y and we still don’t use it all, as there’s the generous hand baggage allowance as well.
