I’ve recently noticed a number of shops and restaurants on BA’s online shopping portal offer Avios for in store purchases (these can be seen on the ‘collect in store’ section. Do these get awarded if paying via a connected card through apple pay or does the physical card have to be used?
Pretty sure it had worked for me using apple pay. But if you are worried and it is a big amount then just make you you pay with your physical card.
BA Instore excludes PayPal and YoYo Wallet, but there’s no mention of Apple Pay (or Android Pay) in the BA T&Cs. According to PAW Instore, which is operated by the same people:-
Please note that WOWPoints cannot be earned on transactions made through: Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay; Wallet providers including PayPal and YoYo Wallet; Retailer store cards; Cards not bearing the Visa or MasterCard/Maestro symbols.
Please retain a copy of your receipt for your records until your WOWPoints are showing as pending.
If it matters, probably best use the physical card. As I understand it Apple Pay uses a virtual card number for the transactions so it wouldn’t match on the retailer system with the one you loaded.
Why risk it?
I’ve seen posts where points have been declined for all sorts of reasons so surely you’d want to eliminate any possible reason for that to happen?
