Discuss today's stories:
Morning, just as the topic title. I’ve made an Avios booking and a cash booking and as BA Silver, I have chosen seats free of charge. Next year when we fly however, I will be BA Bronze.
I haven’t had this scenario before, so I would like to know what happens to the seats that I’ve selected free of charge at the time of booking.
I have two scenarios:
1) Selected free seats for cash economy booking (Iberia via BA), and
2) Selected free seats for Avios business bookings (Iberia via BA)
Are they chargeable once Silver status has been lost?
TIA
On a standard booking – so booked on BA travelling BA – the seats remain free. The problem is if there’s an equipment swap/cancellation etc. as any attempt to change the assignment once you’re bronze means you have to pay.
Yep if everything sticks then you’re good. You certainly won’t have to pay anything unless you choose to at a later point. Either way you are no worse off than you would be if Bronze from the outset.
Fingers crossed it all sticks!
