Looking to arrange a trip to Singapore for jan or feb. I’m guessing 3 days is enough for Singapore, obviously I know it depends etc etc ..
Where else should I go for a further 4 days that’s relatively accessible from Singapore without taking two days out of the trip for travelling?
Happy to flop without too much to do as long as there’s a view.
I appreciate it’s a very open question but would gladly listen to any suggestions.
Well, I always default to Bali but that is the rainy season then.
Langkawi or Samui are equally accessible and it is their not-rainy season which would be a plus.
But for that length of time I’d be loathe to get on another plane. You could take a ferry to Bintan where there are some more than respectable hotels.
And if push came to the shove, and I had a week where part of it had to be in Singapore then I’d just stay in Singapore coz I’m lazy and don’t enjoy the stress of travel. You could do your three nights in “town” and do touristy stuff and then decamp to Sentosa and flop there. I have a soft spot for the Shangri-La rasa although it certainly isn’t a patch on some of the hotels you’ll get in Asia’s proper islands. But it does the job and I was very content just sitting on the balcony.
I’m guessing you haven’t spent much time in Asia? If so I can totally get why you’d like to go some place else.
Literally one night in Bangkok 30 years ago and that’s it! Singapore has been on my list for a long time but I don’t really know why.
Thanks for your suggestions, will have a look and see. Sitting on the balcony is something we’re good at.
I’d go to Phuket , short flight with a good choice of timings and plenty of options near the airport so no long transfer. Do a Simba boat tour one day so you see something of the place. Used to often go for 2 or 3 nights and always felt like I had a good relax !
For me personally I didn’t see much point in going to Bintan, it wasn’t much different to Sentosa, the hotels aren’t great and the ferry is still a bit of a hassle (and Changi is no hassle, no reason to arrive earlier than 90 mins before)
Kuching. It’s a short flight, has a decent but not overdeveloped tourist infrastructure and some lovely old buildings. Hotels will be alarmingly cheap compared to SG as well.
Fly to Jogyakarta and go see the Borobudur and active volcanoes .

Can highly recommend the Telanus private island just a short boat ride from Singapore. Over water villas and the island to yourself with activities and trips if you want it or just out flop out by the pool or on the beach. Was there is November for 4 days and it was bliss.

+1 for Jogja. Underrated destination. Very good value for money too (not the Aman!)
