Forums Payment cards American Express Small Luxury Hotels offer

Am I correct in thinking to activate this offer I just need to book and pay with a hotel that is part of the SLH collection?
Gonna just boom direct with The Gainsborough in Bath and I’m sure I read before you have to do it this way or am I mistaken?

    Thanks

As long as the hotel itself processes the payment, you’ll be fine. Deposit payments for advance stays also trigger the offer.

Thanks. Will just bypass SLH and book direct then

Has anyone booked via SLH direct and had any issues triggering the offer as they take payment upfront?

Also if you don’t book via SLH directly are you able to add your SLH number to bookings or only if booked via SLH?

@watesc The Gainsborough in Bath is a wonderful hotel. We stayed there on Amex FHR a few years ago and used the £100 credit on a lovely meal in the restaurant.

Before you book see if there’s any offers via Emyr or the FHR if you have an Amex plat

I used the offer on 3 cards at the Culloden Belfast. Reception messed up only charging 3 cards, rather than the 4 cards I presented – one card was charged twice.

No offer has triggered. Amex are sticking to wait 90 days post the offer end date (03 october 2024) before doing anything. 🙄

@TGLoyalty – all my eligible stays booked through SLH (note that not all SLH properties are participating) have triggered the offer as the hotel takes the money directly; SLH don’t take payments. Can’t add SLH number or get Invited benefits without booking via SLH.

@rjn21, when attempting such unusual payments (not unusual for HfP readers), approach the front desk when there are no customers and they are under no pressure. Even better if you can wait for a friendly staff. Also avoid multiple payments / cards at the same time. Two payments one night and two the next – there would’ve been no confusion or mistakes.
