Hi, excuse the potentially silly question (new to this/not had a credit card before). How does it work with the spend requirement of for example the platinum amex (£10k in 6 months) if your credit limit was lower than this amount (£10k/6 per month). Is it correct that you can just prepay your account? Hypothetically if the credit limit was £1k but I wanted to spend £10k all in one go on a holiday, I could prepay amex £9k then go ahead and book?
Thanks
I don’t think you can pay more than your outstanding balance on Amex, but you could spend up to your limit then pay it off and spend again.
Probably easier just to try and negotiate a higher credit limit. £1k would be very low for the Platinum card.
Not sure what the Amex gods have seen, but my recent Platinum came with a £31k limit out of the box! Last Virgin card I had to ask for an increase after they only gave me £1200.
