We got a peak of the front desk screen at the Escape Lounge at Stansted…..
On initial arrival, were told to add our names to a queue and wait for the text message , told waiting times were 50min.
When we did receive the message we came back and saw their screen, it had a list of people in the queue and a message to text each 25min before the gate is announced.
We received our text exactly 25min before gate was announced. Lounge was half full, at best.
Clearly a tactic to limit people’s duration in the lounge.
That’s an underhanded way to maximise revenue!
What did the text actually say?
I’m not going to pass judgement on whether this is sone way of getting people out of the lounge early so they drink less or more of an advisory message about the gays and boar of timers that’s been misinterpreted.
My wife saw it, she saw 5 people’s name (Inc ours) in the queue and message next to each one,….contact customer 25min before gate opening.
Btw I’m assuming the gays and boars is a typo lol
Definitely. I’ve picked up an eye problem so not seeing clearly.
Should have been “gate and boarding times”
But what did the message actually say?

sneaky, sneaky, sneaky.
Is that lounge run by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) ?
Lol! There’d be a riot at MAN if they tried telling anyone they could only have 25 minutes’ drinking time 😂.
How do the lounge know what flight you are on? 😏

Often they scan my boarding pass
Just an idea :))
Top tip: don’t let then scan your pass until you’ve be granted access

There would be lol!
This is why I always ask are you open for walk ins or are you full before I hand over my boarding pass and PP!
It’s caught a few receptionist out when they’ve had that look of oh I’m supposed to say no to PP or apparently make them wait as this thread suggests! I’m nearly blind and can notice it they’re not subtle so this thread doesnt surprise me, one receptionist even went to get their manager to ask what to do before they let me in hahaha!
Side note, I rarely give out my number anyway. LHR let me in when I refused to hand over my number
If that really is the policy not only is it annoyingly customer unfriendly, it’s an absolute abuse of their relationship with Priority Pass. Maximising revenue for the lounge and minimising value for the customer.
I had no problem a couple of weeks ago at about 8am on a Thursday, used 3 Amex issued priority passes to get 6 of us into the Escape lounge. What I did notice though is EVERY table had multiple reservations for paid entry into the lounge so PP entry is extremely sparse and pot luck.

If they told you they could only let you in 25 minutes before gate announcement as it’s so busy then that would be a bit different, as they you can make your own choice of whether they were taking the Mickey or not.
