Forums Other Destination advice Starbucks in USA

Not been there for a few years but I used to collect Stars with a UK card in the US and add loose change at the airport to the card balance for use back here.
Website is contradictory so I wonder if this function is still valid or has it been enhanced away.

It would be a shame if the function had been “enhanced away”.

I used to buy Starbucks e-GiftCards from PAW at a 15% discount and load them to the App, see they’ve been withdrawn too.

I’m off to the US on Friday and love me a Starbucks, I’m assuming I can’t use the Starbucks UK app in US to collect points though…

Funnily enough I did a survey on e-rewards yesterday on a potential new loyalty programme for Starbucks where one of the options is the ability to redeem your reward points, earned in one country, in another country.

No, you can use your balance there (and load it with any unused dollars left over) but you can’t earn or spend points.

@BlueHorizonUK sorry if this is a stupid question but what’s the benefit in that?

You can get rid of US coins

They now have 2 Starbucks apps for UK & US that are independent of each other.

You can spend with & reload your UK card / app whilst in the US, but you won’t earn stars.

I have worked around this by downloading the US app from the US App Store, signing in with a new account and setting top up with my curve card. That way I spend and reload FX free and I earn stars in both countries. The stars are split over 2 accounts though, but let’s me earn rewards in both.

I’d assume you could repeat this in other countries, but I’ve not got that far yet.
