Start date of BA cabin upgrade voucher ?

I have completed my spending target earlier on in my calendar year in December 2024 and can now chose to receive my BA cabin upgrade voucher.

Is there any benefit of not redeeming the reward voucher now but waiting to closer to my year end date (which is May 2025) ?

ie if I elect to redeem the voucher say in April 2025 is that the effective start date of the voucher (and I then have a year to use it from May 2025) or is the start date based on when I completed my target spending in December 2024.

@1967stuart2 – the start date of your voucher will be the date you make the choice between 7k Avios or the voucher. If you don’t choose, it will default to the voucher at the card year end.

In this scenario the voucher is dated when you redeem it and it transfers over to your BA account, which is what JDB is trying to confirm.

However in general you can choose between voucher or 7K at any point before you’ve reached the spend threshold, in which case the voucher is still dated when it transfers to BA, not when you make the choice.

I will hold off redeeming it until the end of the card year in that case which gives me a longer period before it expires
