Anyone know a solution to this ? 2 -9 June DUB – LHR – NYC UC Showing on Virgin as EI to LHR then Virgin across the pond Taxes & fees £288
LHR – NYC same UC flight available with points just missing starting in Dublin Taxes & Fees £998
Would they take the cash for the DUB LHR leg and then points for the LHR – NYC leg
No.
The cash isn’t for a particular leg of the flight but to pay for the proper government taxes and airport fees and any carrier surcharge for the whole trip.
It’s not a take your pick of the different elements.

Sorry, cant help with your question, but I wasn’t aware that VS did EI connections onto their USA flights all on one PNR, sp interesting news. Now if only they had some deal to make it all bookable with VS points.
Also their best mates BA. Avios & Red points!!
I’m flying DUB-LHR-SFO tomorrow, first leg J on BA then Virgin. Price was so good when I booked it, I’m doing it again in October to renew my Virgin Gold .One leg is on EI. Both trips around €1350!
Is this all booked via the virgin site, and using virgin points? I’m surprised they partner with Air Lingus. I don’t suppose the credit card vouchers work on these flights?
Just another thought if you bought a cash ticket in Economy could you upgrade the LHR – NYC to UC leg using points or would they do you with the charges as if the booking was from LHR

They partner with BA and EI on that route. I suspect a regulator may have forced the hand of BA/EI in the distant past. It’s not bookable on Virgin points AFAIK, but can be a great cash bargain.

That’s really interesting, I need to speak to Virgin Atlantic this evening about something else, so will try and clarify when I’m on the phone

Initially the agent said yes no problem, then thought about it and said it would only work if the booking only contained Virgin Atlantic flights
Could be a case of two agents two different answers

Are you in J / Upper all the way?
Hi
Yes, J both ways on trip 1 as DUB/LHR was on BA. Trip 2, I chose to go on EI to LHR so no J available, but it is on BA on my return. The EI flight had a better connection time. Everything worked well enough with the first trip except the Virgin App wouldn’t accept I had checked in for the first flight so wouldn’t give me a boarding card on my phone. Everything easily sorted at the desk in Dublin and given a paper boarding card for the SFO flight.
On the first trip I “landed” at LHR and transferred myself bwt T3/5, no checked bags was my choice given all that has been going on lately.
Trip 2 in 30 days. Hope it goes as well as the first.

Hi again
Forgot to add that the BA tier points posted promptly for both flights!
